2/1/00: Lung Screening for Smokers is now offered at Heartscan Houston and Heartscan Washington DC. On Feb. 1 these sites began offering the Chest Scan which is a test for early detection of lung cancer. The Chest Scan can be added to a Heart Scan for an additional $350 charge. The high-resolution scans are interpreted by a board certified Radiologist. Recent studies indicate an excellent prognosis for patients found with lung nodules less than 1 cm in size following resection. Without chest screening lung cancer is typically found at a much later stage and survival is lower. Heartscan San Francisco has been offering this test since Nov-99.
12/1/99: Electron Beam Angiography introduced at Heartscan San Francisco. Following the announcement of FDA clearance by Imatron, Heartscan San Francisco launched an expanded program to offer this test to bay area patients who can benefit from an alternative to invasive cardiac angiography. The EBA test should be of particular interest to cardiologists interested in follow-up studies of bypass surgery in their patients. See the www.heartscansf.com website for more details.
